Yesterday Bydia took me and Wave to Opening Ceremony in downtown New York. And it might be the best store i've ever been to. Nice quality streetwear, a cool setup, and a real legitimate vinyl player. But the coolest part of the day for me was running into Bobby and Benny Hundreds as we were walking out of the store. I've always been a fan of the these guys just for their hard work ethic and values alone, but on top of that they're some really great guys. They'll be in the NY area for a few days, so if you see them around be sure to speak.

Being in NYC has given me the chance to catch up on some things that were beneficial to me in high school that I haven't had nearly enough time to do since I've become so busy in college. First, Warner and I have started to jog a mile to a mile and a half everyday (gotta fit in those 33 slims). Also, I have begun to read more. My first book that I'll be reading this Summer was recommended to me by my good friend Matt Akin (Box Logo). It is a novel by Chad Kultgen entitled The Average American Male. Weekly journalism magazine Publisher's Weekly reviewed the book saying:

"The nameless narrator of this dismal debut is a cynical 20-something living an empty, oversexed existence in L.A. He gets laid more often than he masturbates, plays video games, goes to the gym, sizes up every bitch in sight and, understandably, hates Casey, his vapid wannabe-actress girlfriend who tricks him into agreeing to marry her. He is not happy about this. Adding to his reluctance is his burgeoning "relationship" with hottie Alyna, a UCLA student who-just as Casey is an exaggerated caricature of What Men Don't Want-is the Dream Girl who likes video games and porn-style sex. Ahhh the countdown is getting slimmer and slimmer (Whitney Houston) but in 2 days we will be leaving our new home town of Atlanta, GA for a few days in Danville, Virginia before our internships in NYC. Everything is packed up for the most part and we've spent the day finishing up errands. However, we did get a chance to watch the game tonight. Ahh Lebron that hurt but dinner was pretty good. La Perilla, had decent food. The service was weak and they were really strict on ID's. But the night ended on a good note anyway. And thanks to Sasha who asked for another waiter and let the restaurant know that she was displeased with them because they weren't trying to serve Warner because of his lack of a fake ID. You need people who will back you up regardless and then tell you about yourself after.

For those of you who don't know about Thorpe, i've attached a link that gives a more in-depth look into his strange case of addiction. All for the couture from the store's departments.

Saw you guys in the Morehouse Men of the Year Issue and I want to interview you for this story I’m writing on pitch to NyMag about the influences of high fashion on young black men in cities.

It’s a rebuttal in response to Jessica Lustig’s article that published in the February Fashion issue entitled “ The Fashion Thief” about Kevahn Thorpe a (when written) 16-year old from Queensbridge that was obsessed with high fashion ( Gucci, Burberry, Prada etc.) so much that he steals it and is in and out of jail (sent to sing sing for 2 years last time) in order to maintain a high fashion profile amongst his peers. I found the article problematic as it neglects the influences and images that young black men are offered in reference to fashion and paints Thorpe as an irrational thief that should know better. I’ve interviewed Lustig, Thorpe (now 18 yo.) and some theorists, professors and more on the subject as I’ve been working on this since February, but my editor thinks I need more young black male voices. A brief interview with you guys would really help me capture that voice and bring a younger prospective.

Its time sensitive, cuz a final draft is due Friday morning, so I would need to interview you guys by tomorrow night. Its just a few simple questions on how fashion has influenced you that can be answered in a brief conference call. Let me know asap if you think its something interests you.

Standard has been one of my favorite shops in Atlanta for some time now. I actually rank it in the top streetwear boutiques that I've been to including Cmonwealth (DC and VA) and Union NY. Recently DC Shoes and Standard launched their first collaborative effort. The Admiral Hightop. Congrats guys awesome job. Hold down two size 12's and we're there.

After years of having their feet planted firmly in the Atlanta lifestyle market, Standard opened the doors to it’s second location in Lenox Square. To commemorate the expansion, Standard has partnered up American footwear giant DC Shoes for their first collaborative efforts. The goal in this collaboration was to represent design elements that have always been strongly present in the motif of Standard. The true red color embodies the strong presence of red accents at both locations along with the green laces and insole, which represent the artificial turf that covers the floor at the new store, as well as the live turf used at various events at the original location.

Hey guys, Warner from the Brownstone Project writing to you about something that's very important to me. This past year of my life has been completly crazy, having many opportunites come my way that I really never could even dream about. One of these opportunities was the ability to record The City Snapshot's first proper demo/ep at Favorite Gentlemen studios, which is run by Manchester Orchestra. Back before I had ever passed Andy any recording of myself, I was a fan of what Manchester did and I can still say that I am a huge fan to this day. I guess the best way to describe it is kinda like watching your teammate get drafted in the first round. That's why i'm encouraging you to go out tomorrow and but their new cd Mean Everything to Nothing. It's not that often I get to really fall in love with records like I was able to with this one, and it means alot to me as a person to be able to say that when I listen to this record not only do I get to see the growth that all of the guys have made with this fantastic record, but I also was given the chance to examine myself and truly finish what was one of the toughest things i've ever done. I'm so proud of the City Snapshot and the new ep, i'm incredibly proud of Manchester Orchestra and their amazing record, and i'm just as excited for what the future holds for the Brownstone Project as I am the guys and this record. They performed a free show the other day at Criminal Records, video from it is after the jump. Go check it out, you won't be let down.

So in light of this Recession, I thought it would help to advise all of you out there on a few industries that you can always make money from.

Security: Crime never stops so jobs with your local police force or working as a security guard may be a lot easier to get for all you aspiring "50" motherfuckers.

Trapping: Some people didn't start using drugs until this entire mess started. If you can find a good connect, reliable workers and a stable demand you may just be the next Kingpin.

Education: More and more people are going back to school. There is a high demand for educators on all levels.

That was about nine months ago, what's new with the staff? I know that by surrounding myself around guys like you and Craig it helped me become a better writer.

Todd: "Craig Haynes is one of the loyalest niggas I know to date. Joe is one of the most honest niggas I know. Alex Jacke produces the best music, period. I understand Tone the most. Andrew Crawford has tons of energy. Mal has the greatest stories. Chaunce has the biggest dreams. TJ is extremely efficient. Ben Lotka is unstable. Ben Goff is Ben Goff. Rob is crazy. Kev is maturing. Linc got bars. Black is in isolation...The point is, surround yourself with people who keep you motivated and you'll go far."

BSP: That's definitely on the mark bro. If you could, let the viewers know a little about CHIT, what it stands for and what it means to you. I remember when I first met you and BY and Chris told me about the Philly Stamp of Approval you guys had. I love the line for what it represents. When I see CHIT I really see that it's a streetwear line made by kids who are actively involved in the scene and who really couldn't give a fuck about things such as the next big trends, and that's definitely what the scene needs. How would you say that your individual ideas and artistic endeavors helped mold CHIT into the brand it is today?

Todd: Ha, yea niggas have definately came a long way, but at a smooth concise pace. I know for me, it was always about knowing myself as an individual and staying true to my original ideas, even if that meant losing a few followers along the way. Alot of niggas are suffering from the syndrome known as, Identity Crisis, so they watch other people to gauge their position in the world. There's nothing wrong with watching, but imitation is a sin. So, I'm just learning from those before me, and then creating my brand with my own form of originality. My style was influenced by young hustling niggas, who got money in the early 90's...I always wore a suit on Easter, but I always changed into a crazy sweatsuit after church.

BSP: Haha, I wouldn't expect anything less. To many of the AUC kids though, they may not necessarily see your face as much as your vision. Was it your plan to always let your craft stand out more than your personal image?

Todd: Morehouse is present day Sodom and Gomorrah, The image of this college is being slowly destroyed by corrupt infiltration, niggas forget what they're here for, that's why im not on the scene much, I fall back wit craig and them...and as long as I have a voice and a vision, I'm one of the biggest threats in history.

BSP: Yea, I definitely agree. So we're gonna be in Puerto Rico together, but I have a few stops to make before all that takes place. Any last words? You know we appreciate you showin love since day one.

Todd: Haha, yea we gonna be there. And it's nothing. Craig and I love to grind you guys up because of something rediculously hype such as your day-glo Supras or skin tight Nudies, but you guys are like family. Still, that doesn't bar you from exposure. midtermyesterday.blogspot.com, is the best blog out right now (no disrespect) for the simple fact that she doesn't post about surface shit...it's from the heart, it's original, it's rare that her posts are on other blogs...it represents the art of blogging and the shallow ass posts of the majority...and the woman behind this masterpiece is a simplistic individual with complex ideals... thats why she holds the title of my girlfriend.
