New Bloc Party Album Out Now!

So the other day I got an e-mail from a staff member at Pitchfork Media that linked me to an interesting story. As it turns out, one of my favorite bands Bloc Party, would not be releasing their new album, Intimacy, this Winter as was planned. Instead of waiting months to release the album and do press, the British Indie act decided to put the album out way sooner than expected... like today. I'm guessing one of the main reasons for this was to combat the leaking of cd's to the internet so early, a problem that caused Bloc Party's sophomore album (a classic) A Weekend in the City recieve poor opening week sales. But with little time to promote the album, and using the format of digital download, will the album still make a splash when it sees a physical release in October? I guess it looks like Radiohead really did change the game with In Rainbows

I listened to the first few tracks off Intimacy, before writing this, and the album doesn't disappoint. It's been a pretty good year for music for me, and i'm glad I can add Bloc Party to that list of artists that never disappoint. It sounds raw and loose, but with an electronic undercurrent that gives the music a good driving force.  The guitars stab you in the ears, and Kele's lyrics are spot on (he's a brotha by the way), i'm only on the fourth track, but I hope that doesn't change. Check out album opener Ares, and standout track Halo after the jump.
