Photobucket

Name: Brad D. Beckwith

Age: 22

Date of Birth: August 20

City you call home: Sacramento, CA

Occupation: Full time college student, intern at Atlantic Records and a TBA major label, Co-CEO of Phase I Entertainment

So one of my favorite things we ever did here at The Brownstone Project was our first installment of Right Side of The Brain with our good friend and head designer of CHIT Todd L. Perry II. So i'm pleased to present to you Right Side of The Brain Volume II, with a one of our good friends and a fellow brother out here trying to make a name for himself in the game with internship at Atlantic Records, and a full time college student, Bradley D. Beckwith.

The Brownstone Project: WHO INSPIRED YOU TO WORK IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

Brad Beckwith: Hhhhhhmmmm, I would def say that Marcus King of Foxxking Entertainment gave me my first shot and opportunity in the game, so I definitely owe him a lot of credit for bringing me on board. Of course you have to respect individuals like LA Reid and Jermaine Dupri for how they came up and made a name for themselves. A big inspiration to me was Shakir Stewart. I was blessed to meet him before he passed and received some great advice from him. And Dame Dash too, even if they say he’s broke, but I don’t wanna believe that. I use to love the Roc back in the day. Haha!

BSP: HAHA! YEA, WAVE DEF WENT THROUGH HIS VELOUR ROC SWEATSUIT DAYS, THE PICS ARE ON MEDIA TAKEOUT. WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE YOU DECIDED TO PURSUE MUSIC SERIOUSLY?

Brad: Man, I use to want to be a sports agent sssssoooo bad! It was my dream. I played sports all the way through high school and still watch ESPN religiously, but I definitely lost my passion for it once I fell in love with music. Now I work with my boy Jovanie Harris from Sacramento State called Phase 1 Entertainment. We represent artists who are unsigned and trying to get promoted the correct way . You can check it out at www.myspace.com/phaseoneentmusic. We increase their fanbase through traffic through our Myspace page and we also create press packages for the artist we are affiliated with.

BSP: THAT’S WASUP. WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE A DUMB GRL WHO’S BAD AS SHIT, OR A DECENT ONE THAT’S A GENIUS?

Brad: My answer is about to be semi-controversial but completely honest, haha. During the day I’d take the dumb girl for the sex, but at night I’d take the smart one who can read me to sleep. But real rap, I’d take the smart one. My homies and I have a strict policy of No Dumb Girls Allowed. My circle’s a lil too tight for an airhead.

BSP: WE HERE AT THE BROWNSTONE PROJECT FULLY AND WHOLEHEARTEDLY APPRECIATE AND SUPPORT THE NO AIRHEAD MOVEMENT BRO. IF YOU ONLY KNEW… HAHA. SO I KNOW YOU TOLD ME YOU NEVER GET A CHANCE TO SIT DOWN, SO WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU DO GET ANY FREE-TIME? READ THE BROWNSTONE PROJECT (SHAMELESS PLUG)?

Brad: Haha, it’s funny, because I actually do. I first met you guys through the blog and thought you guys were definitely on some dope shit. I feel like you guys are good for really bringing your scene to the forefront of whatever it is you guys are doing at the time, but also make it really accessible to anyone, which is great. I also read Lateboots.com for my high fashion fix, haha and AR’s blog too. And if we’re friends, then I’m defiantly checking you out. I try to hit up the homies Big Sean, JK, Chase-n-Cash and thesuskid.blogspot.com, and October’s Very Own whenever I get some downtime. People really don't know just how much Sean has helped me out meet the people I needed to meet, and just been a great friend along the way. I owe alot to him.

BSP: YEA, OCTOBER’S VERY OWN IS WARNER’S HOMEPAGE. HE’S A HUGE FANBOY. I MEAN, FAN WHOOPS. SO BRAD, TELL US ABOUT AN AVERAGE DAY IN YOUR LIFE IN CALI.

Brad: Well first off I’d like to say that sleep is for losers and I live off Red Bull and 5 Hour Energy, haha. But when I DO decide to sleep, I usually go to bed early and wake up around 6:00 am. Watch ESPN because Sportscenter repeats all day and check my e-mail, and eat some cereal. You know, basic stuff. I’ll check my Twitter and go over some homework, haha. If I’m interning that day I go get fresh to death (ya boy stay dipped in that sauce from head to toe), and then drive to work. I hit up Fairfax or Melrose on the weekends.

BSP: HAHA, WE’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT GETTING TWITTER FOR THE CITY SNAPSHOT FOR THE LONGEST. I DON’T KNOW IF WE CAN REALLY COMMIT TO IT THOUGH.

Brad: You guys need to, definitely. It seems stupid at first, but give it a shot. It would definitely keep you guys names in people’s mouths too, which is what I want to work with you guys on too by the way. I think the band is pretty unique and dope as fuck. Owl Eyes and Fear and Loathing in Your Living Room are both my shit.

BSP: THANKS BRO, APPRECIATE IT. WE’LL WERE ABOUT TO WRAP IT UP FOR THE CONVO, BUT LET THE VIEWERS KNOW WHERE THEY CAN HEAR AND SEE MORE OF YOU.

Brad: Definitely, definitely. Well, my twitter is the best way. It’s www.twitter.com/nikemcfly10. And im on Myspace at www.myspace.com/comeonhomiewemajor , yea just like the Ye song, haha. And the Facebook is just my name Bradley D. Beckwith, so feel free to hit me up. You’ll see and hear more of me though in the future though for sure.

BSP: COOL DEAL, ANY LAST WORDS YOU WANT TO LEAVE WITH?

Brad: Ah man, thank you for having me stop by, it was definitely a cool experience. I’m just really working hard trying to make a name for myself like every other man. My motto in life is hardwork and determination, I live by it. I gotta give a shoutout to my people though for holding me down and helping me get this far: My Y.F.L. crew (Your Future Legends). That’s my family. Jay K, Ryon, Reggie, Reese, Carol, Skyler, AJ, and our in house producer Melo.

The Surf Club (ChaseNCashe, Hit Boy, Chill Chill, Stacelette, and Ry). Terry Kennedy and the WHOLE Fly Society for showing love. The group that I’m working with Blacintosh. Fly Ly, JR, my homegirls Erin Wright and Shannon David, my best friend Anthony Robinson, Jon Famous, and my sister Sophia.

Wrightrax, Big Sean, Mike Posner and the whole Finally Famous crew (Sean’s on JK’s new single Paper Chaser), The City Snapshot of course, and WISH dude! I rock my fitted all the time.

Brownstone.
